Dear Fellow Libertarians,

I am thrilled to share some fantastic news regarding Maine’s political landscape! With the recent passage of LD 769, An Act To Reduce The Enrollment Requirement For Minor Political Parties That Seek Official Party Status, the voter registration requirement for permanent status has been lowered to 5,000! This is a significant milestone for our efforts and marks a major step forward in our mission to promote the Libertarian Party in Maine.

This achievement is a result of the relentless dedication and hard work put in by our team. Countless hours of lobbying, coalition building, and earned media efforts have paid off. Under the leadership of our Executive Committee and dedicated volunteers, we have successfully made our ballot access laws some of the best in the county.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Maine State Senator Eric Brakey, a proud member of The Libertarian Party of Maine, and Maine State Representative Laura Supica for their sponsorship of this legislation. Their support and dedication paved the way for a productive and engaging Committee hearing where Pat Ford (Reg. 8 Rep.) and I were able to delve deep into the challenges faced by the smaller parties and disenfranchised voters alike.

However, our work is far from over. The Libertarian Party of Maine remains steadfast in its efforts to blow past the 5,000-voter threshold. With significant contributions and the employment of a skilled individual to run our registration drive, we are on track to end the duopoly in Maine by the end of the year. The stakes are high, given the unique combination of Ranked Choice Voting, a split Electoral College Vote, and the independent nature of Maine voters, Maine is an excellent base to promote the Libertarian philosophy and our candidates. We believe that using Maine as a springboard for a national office run could be immensely fruitful for our POTUS nominee.

Reaching 5,000 voters saves us $80,000 – $100,000 every Presidential cycle in ballot access alone!

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your support and encouragement throughout this journey. We worked tirelessly to secure passage of this legislation, and thanks to individuals like you, we’ve come this far. Together, we achieved near unanimous approval in the Senate and over 66% support in the House before being signed into law by our governor this July.

We are pleased to inform you that our registration drive is currently in high gear, and our fundraiser has been performing exceptionally well, which is why we only need to raise an additional $7,500 to reach our fundraising goal before the end of October. This is a critical time for our campaign, and we need your support to make it happen.

To accomplish our mission successfully, we need your help. Your contribution, regardless of size, will bring us closer to our goal. With your support, we are confident that we will cross the 5,000-voter threshold by the end of the year.

Please consider making a contribution today by clicking HERE.

Every dollar counts and brings us one step closer to promoting the principles and candidates of the Libertarian Party in Maine. Every $11 pays for a new registration.

Together, we can make a real difference in Maine’s political landscape and lay the foundation for others to follow.

Towards Freedom,
Harrison Kemp
